I write LuxeNestIdeas for anyone who wants a home that feels warm and pulled-together without a designer’s budget. Every idea here has been tested in my own rooms first.
From a rented California bungalow to a full-time decor life
I grew up in California, in a house where my mom re-arranged the furniture every season and never once bought anything full price. That’s where I learned that a home’s warmth comes from care and creativity, not from a big budget.
My own decorating journey started the same way most people’s do — in a small rented apartment with white walls, a landlord who said no to paint, and almost no money to spend. I taught myself color theory from library books, hunted thrift stores on weekends, and slowly turned that apartment into somewhere I actually loved coming home to.
Friends started asking for advice, then strangers on Instagram did too. In 2020 I started documenting what I was learning, and LuxeNestIdeas grew out of that — a place for real, livable decor ideas that don’t require a renovation budget or a design degree.
These days I split my time between writing, styling shoots in my own home, and testing every DIY before it ever makes it onto the site. If it’s here, I’ve made the mess and cleaned it up myself.

The first apartment
Started sharing budget decor experiments from a small California rental, mostly for friends who kept asking how I did it.

Turned a growing folder of tips and before/afters into a proper blog, with a focus on ideas anyone could actually afford.
Going full-time
Left freelance styling work behind to write, shoot, and test decor projects for the site full-time.
Today
Still testing every idea at home first, still answering reader emails personally, still believing a great home doesn’t need a big budget.
